The Nenagh Aikido Club was started in The New Institute, Nenagh in March 2005 by Brian Donohoe.
In January 2006 Brian started to give Aikido classes to students attending the Garda Training College, in Templemore.
The Nenagh club was based in The New Institute, Nenagh, until October 2006 when we moved to St. Joseph’s Primary school in Templemore.
We trained there for almost a year finishing up in September 2007 and taking a break from public classes but continuing to run Aikido classes in the Garda Training College.
The classes in the college ran until February 2009.
After much searching for a venue, fortuitously, in September of 2009, Mike Finn ( of the Nenagh Taekwondo school) opened The Nenagh Martial Arts and Fitness Centre, in Springfort Industrial Estate, Streame, Nenagh.
Nenagh Aikido Club classes have been running at the Nenagh Martial Arts and Fitness Centre since then, and continues to be open to all members of the public on a drop in basis.
The Club has also run Aikido classes for the North Tipperary Sports Partnership (N.T.S.P.), with local Foroige groups, in conjunction with Borrisokane Area Network Development (B.A.N.D.) and at Earthsong camps in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
